What is The Devil Is a Part-Timer Season 2 About?
Anime shows are known for using imagery and aesthetics from Judeo-Christian traditions in creative ways that are less likely to be seen in Western countries that are predominantly Christian.
In The Devil Is a Part-Timer, the main character is a reimagining of the demon lord Satan himself. Satan's efforts to conquer the land of Ente Isla are thwarted by the hero Emilia.
When Emilia forces him to retreat, Satan passes through a portal and finds himself in our own world, in modern-day Tokyo. In a world without magic, his abilities don't amount to much.
As much as he wants to return and have his revenge, Satan finds the conquest of earth quite tempting as well. But in the modern world, we all have to get started somehow, often not in the ways we would have liked.
Now posing as a young man named Sadao Mao, the devil takes up a part-time job in a local fast-food chain. From there on, we get to see his hilarious take on all the little things that make up life in the human world.
At the time of writing, the specifics of the second season's plot aren't known. However, based on the manga and light novel, we expect the relationship between Sadao and Emi (the modern-day version of Emilia) to keep developing, as their human versions get on surprisingly well.
Later manga and light novel chapters introduce more supernatural buildings, as well as a small girl who claims to be the two main characters' child, which would be very interesting to watch!
